A community tradition
A New Chapter in Harlem
The Kings County Fiber Festival is crossing the river! We are thrilled to announce that our celebration of fiber arts is expanding to a vibrant new Manhattan location in Harlem. Join us at our new home right by the 125th Street and Park Avenue Metro-North station on the East Side.
Whether you’re coming from the Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, or even outside the city, our new spot is easily accessible via both the MTA and Metro-North, making it easier than ever for the entire tri-state fiber community to gather.
Our Mission
The Kings County Fiber Festival remains dedicated to embracing both fiber artists and the essential resource providers who make their work possible. Our community includes:
Artisans: Crocheters, dyers, felters, knitters, quilters, spinners, and weavers.
Designers: Artists creating innovative works that incorporate fiber as an integral material.
Enthusiasts: Neighbors and newcomers curious about the craft.
Bridging History and Contemporary Art
Our goal is to raise awareness of both historic and contemporary approaches to the fiber arts. KCFF connects a massive community of creators, offering a stage to showcase their work and share their passions. We invite everyone to join in, indulge their curiosity, and gain an appreciation for the wide variety of techniques—both ancient and modern—that our artisans have perfected.
We can’t wait to bring the energy and warmth of the fiber community to this wonderful outdoor autumn event in Harlem!

Stitch Therapy
Maxcine DeGouttes is a fiber artist whose focus is on exploring the creativity within the yarn. For more than five decades she has been knitting, crocheting and teaching many generations of fiber enthusiast. Her approach of looking at the fiberarts as fashion is a perfect marriage between the fiber, the color and the stitch patterning. My teaching approach is to help you develop a design independence while you learn the technical aspects of the art of knitting.
Maxcine owned a local yarn shop in Brooklyn for ten years and is the co-founder of the Kings County Fiber Festival. Her fiber creations are enjoyed on many continents worldwide.
